Introduction.
A selection of paintings created by UK artist Evelina Craven from 1987 to the present time is shown in a series of galleries. The images are arranged to show Evelina's most recent work in Gallery 1 through to her earliest work in Gallery 7. Rain Forest is the largest canvas featured at 67" x 130" (1.7M x 3.3M) and is shown in a dedicated gallery on its own.
The Materials and Framing section discusses the quality issues relating to materials, surfaces and durability. As a key part of any informed decision when considering the prospective purchase of a painting, the importance of quality cannot be over emphasised. The section also contains general information on the subject of framing and the artists own recommendations.
Painting Selector lists all the paintings featured. It provides options for the catalogue to be listed by either; Cat No. (The default), Material, Surface, Size or Price. This is designed to facilitate a simple and easy way to find a painting to meet a particular requirement.
The pictures shown on this website are the
best colour representation of the original works given the limitations of the
photographic process and resolution of the viewing
screen.
Profile of the Evelina Craven, B.A. (HONS) Fine Art.
Artists Statement: "My work is colour and energy. I do not paint reality, I try to interpret my feelings to reflect the unity of body and soul to achieve a sense of encounter and satisfaction."
Evelina was born in Brazil and came to England in 1972 to finish her Post Graduate studies in science. From an artistic family Evelina has been painting since adolescent times and started painting full time after deciding to live in the UK.
Her full name is Evelina Ribeiro Craven; Ribeiro from her father's family from Portugal where they came from in the last century. Her mother's family was native from Brazil. She has 4 grown up children from her first marriage.
An upbringing in a tropical country has been a major influence on Evelina's work, with bright colours a prevailing feature. With an Anglo-Brazilian background Evelina's work is distinct with influences from both the southern and northern hemispheres. Her work has its own generic style wider than the styles often preferred by galleries nowadays.
After studying at The College of Art and Design at St-Albans in the UK, Evelina graduated in 1993 with a B.A. (HONS) Fine Art.
Evelina is a prolific painter who has so far produced more than 750 compositions using a variety of media including water colour, gouache, acrylic, oil and mixed media. She works mainly on canvas and paper, and has undertaken several successful commissions for large scale murals in public places. Emotions and feelings from the imagination and unconscious mind provide the creative drive for Evelina's work to yield mysterious themes.
Evelina shows her work in London and Southern England and has received prizes on 5 occasions for best abstract composition. Much of her work is now in private collections across the UK and in many countries including Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Canada, Greece, Australia, United States and Japan.
